John was born November 25th, 1948 at St. Luke's Hospital KCMO to John and Dorothy Kelley Mackay.

John attended and graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science. After graduating from ASU, he was mentored by his father and eventually became the owner and President of J.H Mackay Electric Co. ,a family business started by his grandfather in 1936.

In 2004, John took a management position with Commonwealth Electric in Phoenix, AZ. Where he worked for the next 13 years. There, he became part of an extended family while developing strong and everlasting friendships with his co-workers until finally coming back home to retire.

John had a great love and passion for all animals but especially his "girl" Golden Retriever Makala. He loved golfing, horseback riding, visits to Rancho de los Caballeros in Wickenberg, AZ and spending time with Patty on the warm beaches in St. Thomas.

John was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Kathleen Mackay Twyman, and Jenny Mackay Blumenthal. He is survived by "best friend" & beloved wife Patty, son, Mac (Sarah) Mackay, step sons Michael (Bethany) King, Brian (Rachel) King, sister Marcia (Rob) Metzler, sister in-law Barbara (George) Enright, six grandchildren, (Sawyer, Grace, Will, Gray, Catherine, & Bianca), in addition to his many nieces and nephews and dear friend who was like a brother, Gary.

John was a hard worker with a strong spirit. He was a caring & loving friend, husband, father and grandfather. Although he shared his love for everyone, no one was more special than his "Best Friend" and wife Patty.

John will be missed dearly by all. May you Rest In Peace with the Lord God our Father for eternity.

Services will be held at Visitation Church Tuesday, June 20th at 2pm followed by burial at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home Cemetery.
