EVELYN was born October 11, 1927 to Edward Prim and Willie Susan Thomas Prim in North Little Rock, Arkansas. The family moved to Kansas City, Missouri when she was three years old. She attended Dunbar and Wendell Phillips Elementary Schools, R. T. Coles Junior High School and Lincoln Senior High School. Evelyn married Governor Walton Rentie in 1943. They became the parents of four sons and one daughter.

EVELYN joined the Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri and was baptized by Reverend William Scott. She later joined The Second Baptist Church which was then located at 10th and Park Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri. Reverend E. E. Chappelle was the Pastor. Here Evelyn worked dutifully and faithfully for many years until her health would no longer allow her to participate in her beloved church. She took a very active part in the Sunday School, Baptist Training Union, The Second Baptist Women's Auxiliary in its Bacote Circle, The New Members Companion and The Married Couples Club. She participated in the Arts and Crafts programs, the day trips, the serving of food at repasses, singing in the choir for funeral services and doing whatever she was called on to do.

EVELYN was a member of The Lincoln High School Class of 1944/1945 Alumni. She served as Vice President, President, and Chaplin of this group. She also started the newsletter along with Eula Potts High.

EVELYN worked many years at the United States Postal Service at the main post office building as a clerk, and as a distribution clerk at the Truman Road sub-station, and also served as a Dues and Accountable Clerk. She was a member of the Retired Federal Employees.

EVELYN and her husband loved to travel throughout their sixty-four years of marriage, especially after they both retired. They travelled throughout the States and went on several cruises, nine cruises to be exact. One cruise in particular was to celebrate their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. Several family members and friends joined them on that occasion.

EVELYN's Husband, Governor W. Rentie, her son Michael B. Rentie, her father and mother Edward and Willie Susan Prim and six siblings preceded her in death, which included her brother James Purse.

EVELYN leaves family members who love and cherish her dearly, a sister and her "best friend" Juanita Franklin Davis of Batesville, Arkansas whom she loved and adored her entire life. Her children: Sons, John W. Rentie (Kattie) of Shelby Township, MI, William C. Rentie (Teta) of Overland Park, KS, David L. Rentie (Lorraine) Rentie of Grandview, MO, a daughter Judith R.
