Edwina Mae Swyden, 87, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away March 26, 2015. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 29, and a Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, at Country Club United Methodist Church, 400 W. 57th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64113. Interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, Missouri 64114 and RESTART, 918 E. 9th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64106.

Mrs. Swyden was born March 14, 1928 in Jacksonville, Illinois, daughter of Charles Edwin and Isobel May (Higgarty) Johnston. She graduated from Washington High School in 1946 and Illinois College in Jacksonville in 1950. She taught high school English for three years and was a hostess for TWA. Following raising her four children, Mrs. Swyden went back to work as a receptionist at the "White House" for Center School District.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Frank Swyden. She is survived by her daughter Holly Swyden and husband Robert John; son Mark Swyden and wife Debbie; daughter Tammy Stohs and husband Ken; son Forrest Swyden and wife Leslie; and grandchildren Josh (Lateaschia), Emily, Preston (Abbey), Tyler, Tara, Micaela, Kylie, Addie and Bailey.
